On here I share with you my insane ramblings, drawings, pics, videos and the weird things that inspire me - Enjoy.

spx:

Simply awesome. Comics inspire kids to make comics… This is exactly why SPX is working so hard to fill our public libraries with graphic novels through our library gift program… So kids can see and learn and be inspired!

By attending the show, you guys make it happen! Last year it was 200 graphic novels from independent published placed into the Montgomery County library system in Maryland. For 2012 we’re aiming to endow libraries in Maryland, DC And Virginia.

Today your love, tomorrow the world!

I try to remember what they say.

Amy is so enthusiastic about comics and drawing. She was SO STOKED to draw that day. I want to be that stoked.

I was talking to Adam, not too long ago, and he was telling me about how much his son draws and how it’s so rad. Dante is like four, I think? And I was like, YEAH.

Kids approach drawing as an experience. It’s not about a finished product. It’s a form of play. That’s why they’re able to leave these drawings behind for me to pick up. They very clearly do not give a FUCK. Same goes for art supplies / paper. I need to get a new ream of paper soon. And gather up some more of my unused markers and pens and stuff.

We were outside. And drawing on the ground. Amy was drawing on the back of a pad of bristol and says “What a beautiful day to be drawing outside!”, and Sydney was straight-up just drawing with her paper on the blacktop. She said she liked the texture. She wears all pink and has a haircut like a doll (very straight bangs), and she is so badass. She is basically Nicki Minaj at this point. She told me she liked to write the word “DEATH” and she didn’t know why. OKAY, SURE. Amy was like “oh, me too!” Sydney also draws hella warrior cats. This is a fuckin’ REAL THING. Not just a MBMBAM joke. It’s rill.

At the end of the day, they say “thank you”. And then I say the same thing.

Gil Scott-Heron’s memoir, The Last Holiday, is a singular triumph, one last act of love from “the godfather of hip-hop.”

Definitely on my list.
